Unless otherwise stated all indoor meetings are held at: The Gothic Warehouse, Mill Lane, Cromford and commence at 7.30pm.
Admission is £1.00.  Car parking free, opposite the Gothic Warehouse on the Cromford Mill side of the road.

Chris, of the Derbyshire Amphibian and Reptile Group, will tell us how to go about looking for some of these elusive creatures, like grass snakes and great crested newts, and some of the places where we might see them.

Steve Tapper is Director of Policy and Public Affairs at the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust. Two species of hare are known in Britain, both of which are to be found in Derbyshire and tonight it is the lowland form whose fascinating world we will explore.

GLOW-WORM WALK

Meet at Wakebridge lay-by at 8.00pm for our annual summer evening's walk in the Crich area. Afterwards, late evening liquid refreshments at the Cliff Inn is followed by a short walk to the local glow-worm colony.

In January we watched Secret World's latest DVD 'It's Raining Otters'. Now Pauline, great friend to our group, makes a welcome return to give us the latest news from Somerset, where 2008's intake of badger cubs will be almost ready for their return into the wild.

Helen Perkins, who heads the Derbyshire water vole recovery progect and Steve Docker, both members of the Derbyshire mammal group and the Mammal Society, will give illustrated presentations on American mink, otters and water                    voles in the UK and beyond.

Tonight's meeting will be preceded by the Group AGM

THE GOINGS ON IN GWENT BADGER GROUP

Steve Clark is chairman of Gwent Badger Group, which was founded in 1974 making it the oldest group in the country. His group's formation followed the 1973 badgers Act, the first protection given to badgers by law and forerunner tot he present day protection afforded by the protection of badgers Act 1992. Steve will tell us about the work that continues in Wales, as there is still mush to do.
